I think that line pretty much says it all. Republicans in competitive districts – like the battleground districts Virginia is full of – are clearly gaining an early financial edge in an attempt to expand their narrow majority in the House in 2024. The GOP took the lead last quarter, and we only have a few days until the next FEC quarterly fundraising deadline to close the gap.

If you’re thinking it seems a little early to be talking about the election next year, you’re not alone. I’m sure a lot of Americans feel the same way. But this is proof that now is the time for us to help Democrats in Virginia build a war chest of cash to take down the GOP and win back control of the House.

If we wait until things ramp up next year, it might be too late. And frankly, I’m just not willing to take that risk. That’s why it’s so important for Democrats to make sure our state party has the money it needs to run a ground game that will propel our House candidates to victory in 2024.
