Yesterday marked one year since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

This devastating decision stripped away the Constitutional right to an abortion after nearly 50 years, allowing states to take away women’s power over their bodies and lives. But if there is one thing the last year has shown — it’s that we can fight back.

MAGA Republicans will stop at nothing to ban abortion nationwide, but they are no match for the will of the American people.

A year ago, millions of women lost their right to a safe and legal abortion. Since then, we have seen countless victories in state legislatures protecting this right. We can build a nation that includes safe access to abortion, but to get it done, we’ll need to keep fighting together.

Looking ahead, we must elect a pro-choice majority to Congress in 2024 to halt any and all extremist efforts to pass anti-abortion legislation nationwide. The road to this majority starts right in Rhode Island — and I am determined to work to codify the protections of Roe v. Wade into federal law.
