GOP senator floats bonkers conspiracy theory on Titanic sub and Hunter Biden
We knew it was just a matter of time before President Biden's beleaguered son was dragged into the Titan sub disaster. Enter Tennessee Sen. and imaginary dot connector Marsha Blackburn, who questioned the timing of the announcement of the submersible's fate. “If the US Navy suspected that the Titan Submersible imploded just hours after it began its voyage, why did the Coast Guard wait until Thursday — the same day the IRS whistleblowers testified before Congress — to make their announcement to the public?” Blackburn tweeted. Where there's smoke there's fire, folks. Also, where there's absolutely no smoke whatsoever, there's definitely also fire, apparently.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Jack Smith makes surprise move in Trump's federal trial
In a surprising move, prosecutors with special counsel Jack Smith’s team asked US District Judge Aileen Cannon to delay the disgraced ex-president's federal trial until Dec. 11 citing the highly sensitive nature of the documents involved and the legal hoops Trump's new lawyers will have to jump through just to gain access to those files. While the news may seem frustrating at face value, BTC breaks down why the delay is actually a good thing. Plus, this just gives Trump more time to incriminate himself and randomly confess in wildly unprepared TV interviews.

Wagner mercenary army pulls back in Russia but mutiny weakens Putin's image of authority
For one long June night and a day, Russia's notorious mercenary leader Yevgeny Prigozhin staged an apparent insurrection, sending an armored convoy towards Moscow and raising questions about Vladimir Putin's grip on power. Labeled a terrorist and traitor by Putin just one day before, Prigozhin and his 25,000-strong army were abruptly granted safe passage to Belarus and assurances of amnesty in a deal bizarrely brokered by Belarus leader and Kremlin puppet Alexander Lukashenko.
US spy agencies reportedly detected early signs of Russia revolt by Wagner chief
US spy agencies picked up signs days ago that mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin was preparing to rise up against Russia’s defense establishment, conducting intelligence briefings at the White House, the Pentagon, and on Capitol Hill about the potential for unrest in nuclear-armed Russia a full day before it unfolded.

Oregon’s Multnomah County sues Big Oil for devastating 2021 heat wave
Two years ago a catastrophic heat wave obliterated temperature records across the Pacific Northwest. Portland reached a blistering 116°F on June 28, 2021, with the heat melting streetcar power cables, buckling pavement, and killing an estimated 69 people in Multnomah County. About 800 people died across Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia as a result. Now, that heat dome — which scientists deemed “virtually impossible” without global warming — is the subject of a new lawsuit targeting ExxonMobil, Shell, Chevron, and other fossil fuel companies, seeking to put them on trial for the role their products played in the disaster.

Analysts say solar is saving Texans from widespread power outages amid extreme heat
A sweltering heatwave has gripped Texas over the last two weeks, pushing temperatures to 115°F in parts of the state — but its status as a new leader in the development of solar power has reportedly protected many in the state from a catastrophic loss of power. Huh, how about that?

Three San Antonio police officers charged with murder after fatally shooting woman
Sgt. Alfred Flores and Officers Eleazar Alejandro and Nathaniel Villalobos have been charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of 46-year-old Melissa Perez, who appeared to be experiencing a mental health crisis outside her apartment at the time of her killing. The officers opened fire on Perez following an interaction where she ran away into her apartment and threatened the officers with a hammer as they tried to force their way inside.
Kansas' Republican attorney general is moving to block trans people from changing their birth certificates
Attorney General Kris Kobach, you may unfortunately recall, came to national prominence peddling Donald Trump's racist birth certificate conspiracy claiming Barack Obama was born in Kenya. For his latest act he's targeting the birth certificates of transgender Kansans. Kobach asked a federal judge on Friday to prohibit transgender people from changing their birth certificates, because letting marginalized people be themselves is clearly beyond the pale.
