Dear John,
We are living in difficult times, and it can sometimes get disheartening. That’s why the Plastic Free team of 350Brooklyn invites you to join us in an inspirational, fun filled challenge to combat one of our biggest challenges, plastic pollution! During the Plastic Free July Challenge we will work together, encouraging and supporting each other and sharing creative plastic free tips!
We all know the convenience that plastic offers us, but did you know that 99% of plastic comes from fossil fuels? Single-use plastics like bottles, straws, bags, and utensils, stick around long after you use them, breaking down into microplastics. In fact, the average person ingests about a credit card’s worth of plastic each week. You say, “It’s all good, I put it in the recycling bin.” Unfortunately, the truth is that less than 30% of plastic is recyclable, and often only 1 to 3% is actually recycled. Most products are made from virgin plastic.
