Hi John!
When Brad emailed you a couple weeks ago about the fundraising slowdown we’re currently experiencing, he really wasn’t exaggerating. We see some of the absolute lowest online fundraising numbers from June through August.
In contrast, Brad is on the move and showing up for New Yorkers in big ways.
Just in the past week, Brad sent a letter alongside Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez urging Mayor Adams to restore short-sighted budget cuts to education, libraries, human services, and supportive housing. He testified at the NYC Council’s Committee on General Welfare about the need for more pro-bono legal services for asylum seekers. He issued a monthly report on the gross mismanagement at Rikers Island. He gave a commencement speech at LaGuardia Community College and visited several public schools across the city. He spoke out on the urgent need for the NY State Assembly to pass Coverage For All. Oh, and he dropped his daughter, Rosa, off at summer camp where she’s a counselor.
John, right now we’re only a dozen or so away from reaching our goal of 100 unique donations before our June 30 fundraising deadline. It’ll show strength for a capable and equitable government.
We’re grateful for your support, no matter how much or how little you can give right now. If you haven't already, is there any chance you could chip in a few bucks to help make it happen?
Thanks,
Team Lander

Subject: Long, slow summer
John,
It’s the middle of a busy week in New York City. School is almost out, it’s Pride Month, and summer is officially here.
Like I’m sure you are, I’m looking forward to enjoying sunny Prospect Park and Pride Parades across the five boroughs throughout the month.
But as June spins onward, we encounter an annual problem…
The summer is a notoriously difficult period for grassroots, small-dollar fundraising in New York City. We’re facing a slowdown like that now.
Understandably, it’s because people check their email less frequently, aren’t tuned in to politics, or just don’t keep tabs on their inbox. New Yorkers are busy people!
We see a slowdown every summer, and it genuinely becomes a problem because grassroots contributions make up a significant chunk of our overall fundraising.
That means every single contribution this summer — $10, $5, or even $3 — has a bigger impact than before.
Thank you, and here’s to a meaningful summer.
In solidarity,
Brad
