Happy Pride, everyone!
I’m proud that New York is the birthplace of pride and the birthplace of the LGBTQ rights movement. While so many states across the nation are rolling back LGBTQ protections, here we’re expanding them.
While other states are afraid to say gay, here we say it proudly.
New York will always stand as a beacon for hope, light, and love. And when you lead with love, there is no limit to what we can accomplish together.
I am proud to be part of an administration that has:
- Doubled funding for the LGBTQ+ Health and Human Services Network.
- Expanded options for gender markers to allow New Yorkers to choose “X” on drivers licenses and other official state documents.
- Ensured that transgender New Yorkers can change their names and gender designations on marriage certificates without leaving their dead names on them.
- Increased funding for runaway and homeless youth services and dedicated $20 million to building LGBTQ+ affirming affordable senior housing.
And, I am honored to serve as the chair of the Hate and Bias Prevention Unit. In the wake of increased hate crimes directed toward LGBTQ+ Americans, we invested $3.5 million towards this effort to drive out hatred and bias in communities across New York.
Will you sign my pledge and join my fight to stand up for LGBTQ+ communities? »
Thank you for your support. Again, Happy Pride!
