Can you believe it’s already been a year?
One year ago today, the Supreme Court struck down the right to safe abortions in their infamous Dobbs decision. In the face of such darkness, California has served as a beacon of hope for those looking for bodily autonomy, reproductive freedom, and essential healthcare.
California law protects reproductive freedom, including safe and legal abortion — and we won’t backslide. That’s because Attorney General Rob Bonta has made protecting access to reproductive rights a top priority.
As our state's chief law enforcement officer, AG Bonta has used the full force of the law to defend Californians' reproductive rights through action.
To protect reproductive rights, over the past few years, he has:
Challenged dangerous abortion bans.
Supported the Biden-Harris Administrations’ efforts to increase access to care.
Fought for increased access to birth control and medication abortion.
Sponsored legislation to protect people seeking and providing abortion services.
Warned pregnant people about the dangerous and deceptive tactics used by so-called “Crisis Pregnancy Centers.”
Strengthened security at clinics.
Made it clear to law enforcement across the state that abortion is legal and protected in California.
Reproductive freedom is non-negotiable and Rob will continue to do everything he can to protect abortion in California and nationwide. But he also needs your support in this fight.
Reproductive rights are safe in California because Attorney General Bonta is here.
In solidarity,
Team Bonta
