Rep. Adam Schiff just absurdly claimed on local TV that his record is “more progressive than [Rep. Katie] Porter” as they compete for California’s U.S. Senate seat.
The facts say otherwise. We have them below.
(Want to press pause on CA Senate emails for a few months? Let us know here.)
No matter what you think of him, Adam Schiff was nowhere to be found as the Biden White House was working with leaders like Katie Porter to push progressive priorities like child care, elder care, climate investment, lower price prescriptions, and taxing billionaires.
The top story when one Googles "Adam Schiff" "Build Back Better" is about Schiff commenting after passage of the bill in the House. That is a stark contrast to Katie Porter’s advocacy during the big fight for climate provisions, child care, and progressive taxation.
Showing up for the final vote is not impressive. Playing a leadership role behind the scenes and making the public case for progressive priorities is impressive -- and what Katie Porter does consistently. Katie fights for you – please support her today.
We’ll have more to say about Adam Schiff’s record on Trump, where a new book details how he undermined Jamie Raskin and those pushing for accountability every step of the way before jumping on stage at the end to take credit.
But on progressive economic policy, here’s more about Schiff’s record:
- He’s consistently voted against unions and labor.
- He’s taken millions in corporate PAC money from industries like Big Oil, Big Pharma, Wall Street, Payday lenders, and Fox News, while Porter does not.
- He continues to take corporate lobbyist money, while Porter does not.
- He’s never once voted for a Progressive Caucus budget.
- He joined Congress as a conservative Blue Dog, and even held a leadership role.
- He never joined the Progressive Caucus, which Katie Porter has helped lead.
Californians deserve -- and all Americans need -- a progressive warrior in the Senate who will stand up to corporations and the political establishment. That is Katie Porter – please support her campaign with $3 or more here.
Thanks for being a bold progressive.
