Dear John,

One year ago today, the Supreme Court stripped away the legal rights of millions of women by overturning the protections of Roe v. Wade.

There’s a lot that could be said about this decision – and I’m sure you have your own views on the topic – but here’s what sticks with me:

Women are perfectly capable of making their own health decisions, and inserting politicians between a patient and her doctor isn’t just an invasion of privacy – it’s bad policy. It puts women’s lives at risk.

Every minute our lawmakers spend legislating women’s bodies and dictating medical decisions is time that could have been better spent addressing the real problems that plague our nation.

Rep. Jack Bergman is no exception. Since being elected, he’s either cosponsored or supported more than 8 bills to restrict women’s access to healthcare or dictate women’s medical decisions. Bergman even cosponsored a bill that would ban nearly all abortions with no exceptions for rape or incest - all when he could have been supporting women and children by focusing on reducing costs so families can feed their children, bringing jobs to the district, or supporting childcare and education.

As a mother of two daughters, I will do everything I can to ensure a future for them that is safe, and I know better than to think the government can make those decisions for us.

When elected, I promise to spend my time actually helping families - by focusing on solving the very real challenges that face the First District.

If that sounds like the type of representative you’d want in office, make a donation today to fuel our campaign and help unseat Rep. Bergman – who thinks he knows better than we do.
