John,

I was six years old when Roe v. Wade was first decided.

I grew up, went to law school, fell in love, got married and had two beautiful boys in a world where my fundamental rights to privacy and self-determination were always protected.

That's not a right that my mother's generation had. And, because of the actions of six radical justices one year ago, that's not a right that today's generation has either.

Today, young women are growing up in a world where they cannot count on the right to make life-or-death decisions about their own health and well-being. Where they are no longer full citizens—no longer entitled to the basic promises to Life and Liberty guaranteed in our founding documents.

Fourteen states have banned all abortions with no exceptions. Another 10 have enacted extreme restrictions that effectively make it impossible for women to access the care they need. Roughly 1 in 3 women live in states where extremist legislators have taken away basic human rights.

Let me be clear here: This isn't about medicine or science or patients' health. It's about an extremist minority dead-set on imposing their own religious views on the general public.

I know that this fight may seem hopeless today. In just a year, we've already gone so far backward. But, John, they'll only win when we give up, when we stop fighting to restore the rights that have been taken away from us.

I promise you that I'll never give up this fight—never. And if you join me in that commitment, in this promise to future generations, then I know that we will win.

With gratitude, love, and relentless hope,

Kirsten
