Today is the one year anniversary of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.
Let me be clear: reproductive freedom is a fundamental right. That's why I will always fight to defend access to safe, legal abortions.
Here are a few examples:
In the wake of the Dobbs decision, I championed the My Health, My Data Act, which prohibits websites and apps from collecting and selling consumer health data. For example, health apps that track user's menstrual cycles can sell that sensitive information to data brokers, including anti-choice groups and law enforcement in states with strict anti-abortion laws. My legislation, adopted by the legislature, stopped this unethical practice in its tracks.
When Donald Trump attacked contraception access, I took him to court and won.
And earlier this year, I led a national effort that protected the availability of the abortion pill mifepristone — a huge victory for reproductive justice for millions of Washingtonians and people across the country.
As Governor, I will bring the same energy and results. I will keep fighting to defend reproductive rights for all Washingtonians. But to do that, I’m going to need your support.
Will you chip in any amount to support my Exploratory Campaign for Governor?
We have to be prepared to go head-to-head with an anti-abortion GOP candidate who will likely be funded by groups who want to see reproductive rights eliminated.
However, it’s not just the GOP we need to be worried about. The only Democrat to vote against the My Health, My Data Act — a top legislative priority of Pro-Choice Washington — just entered our race. He will rely on large corporations to fund his campaign.
That’s why it’s so important we build the resources to run a successful campaign as soon as possible.
Thank you!
