Friend, one year ago today, Roe v. Wade was overturned – plunging millions into a nation where reproductive freedom was no longer a given.
And in the 365 days since, Republicans did not hesitate to take advantage of the ruling and continue their crusade against reproductive justice.
A total of 20 states moved to ban or restrict abortion in the months following the overturning of Roe v. Wade – leaving millions across our nation without access to vital reproductive care. Some state lawmakers have even sought to prosecute people who crossed state lines to get an abortion – but they didn't stop there.
Friend, I'm sure you recall the heart-stopping moment when mifepristone – the most widely used abortion pill in the nation – was nearly taken off the market. And though the Supreme Court did not follow through with removing this vital component of health care, it did make one thing clear:
We must codify reproductive rights. It is the only way to keep reproductive freedom safe from far-right lawmakers across the nation who are bent on taking these rights away.
That's why I promise to be a vote for reproductive freedom in the Senate, and I'm counting on you to stand with me. I need 5,000 people to sign my petition to protect reproductive rights before midnight tonight, so please:
Will you add your name to my petition to protect the right to choose?
Con gratitud,
Ben Ray
