John, one year ago today, Roe v. Wade was overturned – putting millions of women at risk because abortion rights are no longer guaranteed.

And in the year since, extremist Republicans across our nation wasted no time in pushing abortion restrictions or all out bans through state legislation.

John, Americans deserve better. That’s why I have been tirelessly fighting as the co-chair of the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus to make reproductive freedom the law of the land. And now, I’ve taken up this fight once again.

Earlier this week, two other colleagues and I filed a discharge petition that would force Speaker Kevin McCarthy to hold a vote on the Women’s Health Protection Act – a landmark piece of legislation that would restore the right to choose to all Americans.

If our discharge petition reaches the necessary 218 signature threshold, the Women’s Health Protection Act must immediately be called for a full vote in the House – despite any GOP efforts to prevent the bill from being considered.

But I need your help, John. I’m counting on you to become a citizen co-sponsor of this critical discharge petition – because we need every voice possible in our fight to restore Roe. And in honor of this somber anniversary, I’m looking for at least 5,000 signatures before midnight tonight, so please:

For me, the fight for reproductive rights is personal. As a teenager, I got pregnant. And with the help of my mother, I made the decision to get an abortion. But with no access to the care I needed, I had to travel from my home in California to Mexico to receive an abortion – and I was terrified.

And now, in 2023, people are facing the same obstacles that I did as a terrified teen – and that is devastating.

That's why, exactly one year from the day Roe v. Wade was overturned, I’m once again pushing for the Women’s Health Protection Act to be brought to a vote and passed – and I’m counting on you to join me.
