John,

Scientists have made an alarming discovery about the health of our oceans. A new study of nearly 400 coral reefs around the world found that populations of sharks have declined 60% to 73% in the last 50 years.

PROTECT THE SHARKS » [[link removed]]

You may be wondering why it’s a bad thing that there are less of these fearsome creatures in the ocean, but sharks are at the top of the food chain on these reefs, and losing them disrupts the entire ecosystem.

Without apex predators like sharks, the entire ocean is upended. One-third of all species of sharks are at risk of extinction, putting the ocean even more at risk of becoming unbalanced. Overfishing has put hundreds of species, including these sharks, in danger, and it could affect the future of our coastal communities and the ocean at large.

SEEC members and President Biden are fighting to strengthen the Endangered Species Act and protect sharks and other endangered species on land and in the sea. Will you donate today to fuel their fight? [[link removed]]
