Team,
It’s been exactly one year since the Supreme Court handed down the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision, overturning nearly 50 years of national abortion rights.
In the absence of those protections, Republican lawmakers rushed to pass abortion bans across the country. Many succeeded: as of today, abortions are substantially limited or entirely banned in over twenty states.
But this is not where our fight ends.
Polling has shown that the overwhelming majority of Americans do not want lawmakers controlling their intimate medical decisions. Ballot measures attempting to ban abortion have failed in states like Kansas and Kentucky. And multiple state legislatures have flipped party control, giving Democrats the majorities they need to protect reproductive freedom.
On the anniversary of this decision, we must listen to the American people and recommit to passing legislation to restore abortion rights nationwide as quickly as possible.
That's why I've made it one of my top priorities to pass the Women’s Health and Protection Act (WHPA), which would finally codify abortion rights into federal law, guarantee equal access to abortion across the nation, and protect against any future challenges to our reproductive rights.
Can I count on you to take action today to pass the WHPA and restore reproductive freedoms nationwide? Join me by adding your name as a citizen co-sponsor now.
