Folks, I’d like to share something personal with you.

I have two amazing, almost-grown-up kids. They’re both bright, honest, kind, hardworking, people who make me proud to be their mom every single day.

When they were growing up, I’m not ashamed to admit that I sometimes struggled. I was lucky enough to have a wonderful support system around me to make those moments a little easier, and to offer me compassion and wisdom when I needed it most.

Now, with just over two decades of motherhood under my belt, I know what a truly momentous, personal, life-changing decision it is to become a parent.

But when I made that decision, I didn’t write my Congressman and ask for his permission.

I didn’t check in with right-wing Supreme Court justices to see if it was alright with them.

I didn’t ask any right-wing mega-donors for their input.

So today, one year after the Supreme Court’s disastrous decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, I want to make you a promise:

I will never stop fighting to make sure that the deeply personal decision to have children remains in the hands of women and out of the hands of the ruthless anti-choice crusaders — who, I might add — demand to strip away support for children and working families at every possible opportunity.

The majority of Americans are on the side of choice. Last November, this pro-choice coalition rose up and successfully fought back anti-choice extremism in the Senate.

Together we can continue to harness our anger and anxiety into an unstoppable grassroots movement that will make the right to choose the law of the land – in Nevada and across the nation.
