Folks, today marks the one-year anniversary of the Supreme Court’s disastrous Dobbs v. Jackson decision, which rolled back decades of protections for abortion access by overturning Roe v. Wade.
I’m still furious and heartbroken. But I promise you this: I am never ever going to give up on fighting for reproductive rights for every single person in this country.
In the time since the radical SCOTUS decision, I reintroduced the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would codify reproductive rights into federal law. We also protected our Democratic Senate Majority, reelecting my pro-choice colleagues in the U.S. Senate across the country. And right here in Wisconsin, we sent Janet Protasiewicz to the state Supreme Court instead of an anti-abortion candidate.
But there’s more work to do. Wisconsin is held to an extreme law from 1849 banning most abortions. And far-right politicians across the country are supporting total abortion bans (including some of my potential opponents in my Senate race next year!).
We have a lot of hard work ahead to restore and protect abortion access. But I’ll never stop fighting to protect and defend our fundamental rights.
One way you can help today, on the one-year anniversary of Dobbs v. Jackson, is by supporting organizations working to help folks get the reproductive care they need, like the Women's Medical Fund — an organization helping fund abortions and providing support for patients in Wisconsin.
So if you can, please consider making a contribution to the Women’s Medical Fund today. 100% of your donation will go to this organization to support abortion care for patients who need it.
I won't stop fighting to defend reproductive rights — no matter how difficult the battle.
Thank you,
Tammy
