John,
Today marks the first anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Over the past year, we’ve seen the devastating consequences of losing a woman's legal right to choose play out in stark fashion. We’ve seen an assault on our constitutional right to privacy as abortion bans were enacted in state legislatures nationwide. The ramifications of the Supreme Court’s decision have been profound.
When the Supreme Court handed down its decision, Justice Clarence Thomas also questioned the right to use contraception, setting a dangerous precedent. Americans deserve privacy when making their personal healthcare decisions, and healthcare providers must retain the freedom to provide the necessary care to their patients. That’s why I’m co-sponsoring legislation to protect the right of all Americans to access contraception and calling to codify Roe v. Wade into federal law.
I hope you’ll support my efforts today to protect our fundamental and life-saving right to choose.
