Today marks one year since the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

When I first heard the leaked decision, I was making pasta for a sick kid
after a long day. I thought to myself, how can any politician think they
are equipped to make the deeply personal decision to become a parent for
someone else?

My Republican opponent at the time supported the GOP’s abortion bans, so
our campaign got straight to work telling voters what was at stake—our
first TV ad, countless mailers, and thousands of conversations at
door-steps and over the phone focused on protecting the right to an
abortion.

But I frequently heard from voters about their belief that abortion would
always be legal in California. Unfortunately, that’s not the case.
Republicans have told us that if they control the House, Senate, and White
House, they will ban abortion nationwide.

This fight isn't over. This fundamental right can and must be codified
into federal law. In the Senate, I'd be a fierce advocate for overturning
the filibuster to do so.

We can’t accept this new reality as “good enough.” I still can’t believe
my kids are growing up in a world with fewer rights than I had at their
age.

I’ll always fight for the right to a safe and legal abortion, to expand
access to reproductive healthcare, and stand up to Republicans who think
they should control our lives.

Onward,

Katie Porter

Our end of quarter deadline is Friday at midnight. We don't accept a dime
from corporate PACs or federal lobbyists, so we count on people like you
to power Katie's fight for nationwide abortion rights. [ [link removed] ]Can you chip in
