Folks,
Today marks a somber day in recent U.S. history. Exactly one year ago, the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade – effectively ending federal protections of abortion access.
The decision of Dobbs vs. Jackson — which ultimately led to state jurisdiction — moved our country backwards by stripping millions of Americans of their basic rights.
I’m going to be honest: When Roe v. Wade was first overturned, I was worried for Michiganders. We had an archaic 1931 abortion ban law on the books that criminalized abortion providers, and the GOP was attempting to enforce it.
But Michigan shut down anti-choice Republicans overwhelmingly last year. We voted to enshrine abortion rights into our state constitution, and we re-elected pro-choice Democrats up and down the ballot.
I couldn’t be more proud of my state for recognizing that abortion rights are a personal choice that everyone should be allowed to make on their own. But unfortunately, many residents in other states aren’t given the same freedoms.
As of now, 24 states have total or near total abortion bans in place — jeopardizing women’s health nationwide.
The solution is simple: We must reinstate federal protections of the right to an abortion ASAP. And if we can’t get there through the Supreme Court, then we’ll just have to ensure Democrats secure House and Senate majorities.
I will always be a pro-choice voice in Congress, and I’ll fight like hell to reinstate federal abortion protections. Will you chip in $25 today to help Democrats take back the House majority and defend our human rights?

I know today isn’t easy, but just know I’m doing all that I can to ensure that pro-choice policies become the law of the land.
Thank you,
Haley
