To mark World Refugee Day on June 20, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teamed up with ¡Hola! Combo to produce a short animated documentary featuring the stories of seven migrant children living at the Senda de Vida shelter in Reynosa, Mexico. MSF teams provide regular services at the shelter to offer physical and mental health care to people on the move. Drawing is one way that MSF mental health workers help migrant children process their experiences. Little Birds centers the voices and experiences of children as expressed in their own words and art.
MSF teams provide medical care along the treacherous migration routes through Central America and Mexico, including along Mexico's northern border with the US. We have treated thousands of people stranded by inhumane migration policies imposed by the US and Mexico. One in three migrants detained in Mexico is a minor, and half are traveling without their parents. Like migratory birds, these children cross borders and adapt to survive. Watch the documentary. |
