Dear John,
One year ago today, the pro-life movement won a stunning victory: Roe v. Wade was overturned.
You may remember hearing me say over and over that I didn’t think I’d see it in my lifetime—and I really believed it! But decades of hard work paid off with Justice Alito’s magnificent majority opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson:
We therefore hold that the Constitution does not confer a right to abortion. Roe and Casey must be overruled, and the authority to regulate abortion must be returned to the people and their elected representatives.
For years, we poured our sweat and tears into overturning Roe, but that wasn’t the end. We are deeply grateful for the victory we had at the Supreme Court.
Now it’s time to direct our efforts toward passing laws that protect the unborn and creating communities that empower women and families to choose life.
That’s why Celebrate Life [[link removed]] will happen the week after the anniversary of Dobbs. We’re marching forward to create a culture that values life and protects it in our laws.
John, I hope you have time today to reflect on our movement and the momentous milestone of overturning Roe. And starting Monday, I invite you to join with advocates across Oregon in taking pro-life action. For more info and to receive special daily emails next week, fill out the form on the Celebrate Life page [[link removed]].
Because everyone deserves an advocate,
Lois Anderson
Executive Director
