Friends and Comrades,
Bernie Sanders’ run for the Presidency is off to a great start. A clear win this week in the New Hampshire Primary and a less clear win last week in Iowa show that voters are ready to vote Bernie this primary season. They know Bernie is a fearless truthteller who has fought for many decades against greedy corporations and the ultra-wealthy. He has started a serious movement that inspires all peoples of all ages to work together to break the stranglehold that the billionaires have on America.
Bernie’s unwavering demand of a reconfigured Medicare, Medicare for All, which will provide a truly all-encompassing low- cost health care plan for every American, is very popular. He will also fight for a Green New Deal to provide low-cost renewable energy and jobs, and more importantly, keep our planet habitable. Plus, a free college tuition program to keep the worker bees out of debt while they train to turn the world around. He also has a plan to increase affordable housing options across America.
Bernie has been endorsed by many congressional leaders, and several unions. We Twin Ports DSA members are inspired and are working now to get the word out. We invite you to join us in supporting Bernie Sanders and encourage people to get out and vote early for Bernie in the Minnesota Primary beginning January 17, 2020. If you live in the City of Duluth, you can vote NOW at the City Clerk’s office at City Hall (Rm 330). If you don’t live in the city you can early vote at your County Court House. The actual primary will be on March 3rd, then you can vote at your usual polling place if you didn’t vote earlier. The Wisconsin Primary is April 7.
The official Bernie Campaign is in the area and will be having a doorknock out of the Take Action Office (25 N21st Ave W) this weekend. We urge everyone who wants to help Get Out The Vote for Bernie to participate. For more info see this public event.
Other Official Campaign events may come up but don’t wait for us to tell you, use the sign-up form above and stay in the campaign loop.
Twin Ports DSA will also be doing doorknocks, but not on the scale that the official campaign is doing.
As we have said before, all work and no play makes for a grumpy socialist. Twin Ports DSA will be hosting another Presidential Debate watch party on Wednesday Feb 19 at Carmody’s Irish Pub, 308 E Superior St. We will be there at 7pm, the debate goes from 8 to 10 pm. Come early and conspire if you want, but Please come join us in cheering Bernie on. At this time, there are only 5 candidates are scheduled to debate.
If you wish to donate to our local, independent campaign for Bernie Sanders, please go here.
