Summer can be a challenging time for many families, as free and reduced-cost school meals are no longer available. Many of the families that rely on these meals have a tough time providing the 1 or even 2 additional meals per day per child.

The Summer Meals Program is federally-supported program that provides free meals and snacks to kids 18 and younger to help families cover this meal gap, but there is no funding provided to ensure families know about the program and how to access these free meals.

We help thousands of kids access free, healthy summer meals.

At the Coalition Against Hunger we work to ensure kids can access these free, healthy meals and snacks by:

  • Operating a dedicated Summer Meals Hotline
  • Creating and distributing informational materials
  • Maintaining a Summer Meals Site Map on our website, connecting families to the most convenient summer meals sites

Last year, our Summer Meals Map had 5,211 views, which was a 262% increase from the year before. This summer we are already on pace to far surpass these numbers and help even more families access free, nutritious meals for their kids.
