"Trump’s Newest Plan for SNAP Would Trap Workers in Poverty"
The Trump administration's proposal is also a backdoor attack on the school lunch program.

Friends --
For far too long, the American Dream has been slipping away, further and further out of reach for so many, no matter how hard one works. I decided to run for office because I couldn’t accept this -- and I know that’s why many of you joined me in this campaign, too.
I won’t sit on the sidelines and watch this Administration circumvent Congress and make it harder for working families, hungry children, the disabled, and elderly to access food. Period.
It’s cruel, counterproductive, and wrong.
It’s on us to stop this Administration from kicking 3.1 million people off SNAP and 500,000 children off free school lunch programs. If you’re with me, please add your name to the petition.
It is my firm belief that only through love can we stay true to who we are, live up to our ideals, and fulfill America’s promise.
Where is the love in forcing a single working mother, who is already working two jobs to make ends meet, to choose between putting food on the table or paying for the class she needs to get one, good-paying job?
Where is the love in having a child go to school focused on hunger instead of learning?
Where is the love in denying a senior citizen the dignity of a meal?
Brothers and sisters, it actually turns out that loving thy neighbor, that lending a hand to those who are struggling is both the moral thing to do and is good public policy -- especially in rural areas like New York’s 19th Congressional District.
A recent report released by the Department of Agriculture, shows that SNAP not only helps working families pay for food and creates jobs at grocery stores, but it also has ripple effects that benefit retail, wholesale, and transportation sectors in rural communities too.
So even if you don’t personally use food stamps -- the Administration's decision to cut SNAP for 3.1 million Americans could impact you and your community’s economy. We are all connected and we are all in this together.
Add your name and sign the petition to stop 3.1 million working people from being kicked off SNAP and 500,000 children from being kicked off free school lunch programs.
Let’s lead with love,
