It’s Nevada’s turn - are you ready?
Hi Friend,
It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for! Nevada is up next in the race
to decide who will be the next President of the United States. There’s a
reason our state gets to be the ‘First in the West’ - we have one of the
most diverse, representative constituencies in the country, we’ve earned
our spot in history as home to the country’s first female-majority
legislature, and our state has emerged as an example for the rest of the
nation to follow on issues like clean energy, gun violence prevention,
healthcare, and abortion.
Here’s how you can get involved.
You might have heard Las Vegas is hosting a debate next week on February
19th! Do you have a question for the candidates? Submit one on CNN's
website at bit.ly/nvcnnquestion (copy & paste the link into your browser)
for your chance to be included in the upcoming debate or at one of the
[ [link removed] ]several candidate town halls the network will host leading up to Caucus
Day.
For registered Democrats, early voting in the Democratic caucus begins
this Saturday, February 15th, and runs through Tuesday, February 18th.
[ [link removed] ]Use this link to find your nearest early caucus location - during early
voting, you can vote at [ [link removed] ]ANY caucus location.
The Democratic caucus will be on Saturday, February 22nd. Check in will
begin at 10:00AM and the precinct call-to-order will be at 12:00PM noon.
For Caucus Day locations, [ [link removed] ]click here and find your county to see where
to cast your vote.
If you decide to caucus early, your vote will count alongside other voters
in your precinct. You will be asked to make multiple preference options in
case your first candidate choice does not have enough supporters to reach
the viability threshold set on Caucus Day (for the viability formula,
[ [link removed] ]click here). Your vote will be realigned to your second choice ONLY IF
your first choice is not viable.
If you participate on Caucus Day, you MUST participate at the caucus
location assigned to your precinct. You will also fill out a presidential
preference card, and have the opportunity to realign to your second choice
if your first choice is not viable. Early vote numbers for each candidate
will be added to the total number of supporters before any realignment
occurs. If you, a friend, or family member works on the Las Vegas Strip,
there will be [ [link removed] ]caucus sites located on the Strip to accommodate your
shift on Feb. 22nd!
Besides choosing your preferred candidate, you can also submit a
resolution to the county platform and nominate yourself to the county
Central Committee. You can [ [link removed] ]print our handy list, or choose specific
resolution planks to print out, add your name at the top, and submit it to
your permanent chair after the selection of delegates following the final
realignment. Your resolution will be forwarded to the county convention’s
platform committee.
Not yet registered? Update your registration with the party whose caucus
you wish to participate in by [ [link removed] ]doing so online or (for Democrats)
filling out a voter registration form at your early or Caucus Day
location.
For registered Republicans, you will not have a caucus this year. But you
don’t have to miss out completely on the fun! On Saturday, January 22nd,
you can participate in [ [link removed] ]the party’s Winter Meeting at the Pahrump Nugget
casino from 7:00AM to 4:00PM. After lunch, they will hold a presidential
preference poll where you can make your voice heard.
We look forward to seeing Nevada pull off a successful First in the West
caucus that engages and mobilizes each and every voter ahead of this
critical election year!
See you at the caucus,
Will Pregman
