Hi John,
I’ve been reflecting on the state of the reproductive rights movement today. Tomorrow is the one-year anniversary of
Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the Supreme Court decision that overturned
Roe v. Wade and opened the door for millions of Americans to lose their bodily autonomy.
The conservative majority on the Supreme Court let their extreme ideology overpower 50 years of legal precedent – and Republicans are running with it. There’s been talk of a national abortion ban, and they’re already moved to criminalize the abortion pill and go after doctors who perform abortions in some states.
We cannot let them turn these plans into action.
We have an opportunity to stop them right here in CA-47. Our likely Republican opponent, Scott Baugh, has said that he opposes abortion rights. If he wins this race, we can be sure he’ll follow Kevin McCarthy’s lead in stripping away reproductive rights – and without protection from Roe v. Wade, they could be successful.
Remember that our race is the only toss-up open seat in California. We’ve got to be sure we have the resources to run the best campaign we possibly can to keep Scott Baugh far away from Congress.
Will you chip in $3 now to help us do that?
In Congress, you can count on me to do everything in my power to defend bodily autonomy for all Americans. I will never stop fighting to protect this fundamental right.
In unity,
Joanna
