Folks —
May 2, 2022: Politico published a copy of the draft majority SCOTUS opinion for Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization – the case that would ultimately overturn Roe v. Wade.
May 16, 2022: I announced my candidacy for Congress in a special election in Upstate New York.
June 24, 2022: The official SCOTUS decision in the Dobbs case was released, and with it, millions of women lost the 50-year legal protection guaranteeing them the ability to govern their own bodies.
June 25, 2022: The first day a generation of American women would wake up with fewer freedoms than their mothers or grandmothers.
These dates are seared into my memory: the anger, the outrage, and the disappointment. But I could only imagine the betrayal that women experienced when nine unelected judges, including three Trump appointees and six men, ripped away their freedom. These dates changed everything, including our special election.
I served 27 months in combat in Iraq to secure fundamental American rights and freedoms. I refused to sit by and watch those freedoms taken from women by radicalized judges and extremist politicians. I, alongside my wife, Rebecca, and my team, made a plan. We would be unequivocal about what was at stake every single second of the campaign because the freedom to access safe, legal abortion was quite literally on the ballot. And we were going to make damn sure that every last voter knew that I fought on the side of freedom. So, we did.
August 23, 2022: Choice and freedom won.
Our fight is far from over, but we’re in it because patriots fight for freedom. I fight on the side of patriots, and you do too.
Please, split a contribution between my campaign and Planned Parenthood Action Fund, which supports pro-choice candidates across the country. We need more patriots who will support our reproductive freedoms >>
Thank you for your support.
Yours in service,
Pat
