In the News: House passes resolution to condemn using schools as migrant shelters

The Hill: 

 

House Republicans passed a resolution Thursday condemning the use of elementary and secondary school grounds as migrant shelters.


The resolution, which will not have practical consequences, passed on a purely party-line vote, with 219 Republicans in favor, and 206 Democrats against.

In the News: Former FBI official reveals more challenges in the stalled D.C. pipe bomber investigation

Washington Times:

 

The FBI’s failure to capture the person who placed pipe bombs at political party headquarters in Washington the night before the Capitol riot is partly due to corrupted geolocation data from a cellphone provider, a former FBI official has told House lawmakers.


It’s the latest account of snafus in the investigation of the pipe bombs left on Jan. 5, 2021, outside the offices of the Democratic National Committee and the Republican National Committee. The investigation has dragged on without a break, prompting the bureau this year to up the reward from $100,000 to $500,000 for information leading to an arrest.

A Ways and Means Committee executive meeting resulted in a vote to release to the public whistleblower testimony of two different IRS employees who worked directly on the tax evasion case of Hunter Biden. That testimony outlines misconduct and government abuse at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the investigation of Hunter Biden. The allegations point to a steady campaign of: unequal treatment of enforcing tax law; Department of Justice (DOJ) interference in the form of delays, divulgences, and denials, into the investigation of tax crimes that may have been committed by the President’s son; and finally, retaliation against IRS employees who blew the whistle on the misconduct.
