Friends,

It has been a busy week on the campaign trail!

Few campaign updates:

Alice was endorsed by the Community Leaders of America - a group of pragmatic conservative mayors helping lead cities and counties with strong fiscal discipline and accountability in delivering quality schools, infrastructure, and well-funded public safety services for taxpayers. Read coverage of their endorsement, here.

In the Fox17 debate last week, Alice was asked about downtown crime. You can listen to her response here where she shares the story of a U.S. Army Veteran who was the victim of a growing problem of “roofie and rob” in Nashville. Fox17 did a follow up story with the veteran providing a cautionary tale for residents and visitors here

Last night in the Tennessean / Channel 5 Debate candidates were asked if they’d support mayoral control of the MNPS School Board. Alice was the only candidate to say that as Mayor she would take responsibility for our schools if our school board can’t get results for kids and families. Writes Education blogger TC Weber “Well, the Nashville Mayoral race has finally gotten a little interesting. Last night, candidate Alice Rolli told a little more truth than we like to hear from our politicians.”  The truth is that we spend $1.2 billion on our schools and we have declining enrollment and declining results. Only one quarter of our kids are reading on grade level and we are failing families when we have 19 schools in the bottom 5% of the state - and 11 of those have been on the list since 2015. Urgency and accountability for all kids in our city must be the priority of the next mayor. If the school board won’t take responsibility for achieving results for our kids, Alice will.
