Hello and happy Friday!
Another busy week in DC. Let’s dive in.
It was National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) week in Washington – when we draft the bill to fund the United States military. Our team worked tirelessly to secure dozens of provisions and amendments in the bill text to ensure our national defense and military operations in South Carolina and across the nation are funded and secured.
We were able to meet with a variety of stakeholders from the Lowcountry this week. We started at the 2023 ATD Truck Industry Forum where we talked to truckers from all across the nation who keep our country moving.
We also had the opportunity to meet with representatives from Americans for Prosperity to discuss issues directly impacting constituents and across the nation.
Thursday morning we held a press conference – which the mainstream media ignored – about protecting women’s sports. We were joined by Riley Gaines and other athletes who have had their accomplishments overshadowed by biological men. We are standing up for our daughters, sisters, friends, and the next generation of female athletes. When men are allowed to compete as women, female athletes lose opportunities. It’s not right.
Lastly, we held a hearing on the use of cutting-edge technology to protect American citizens and our borders. We explored the opportunities and challenges of integrating artificial intelligence, robotics, and other technologies into efforts to enhance security and keep Americans safe. Watch here.
Our office has recently started a new series called “Sunday Sunsets.” If you live in the district and want to show off your beautiful sunset picture, drop it here.
Lowcountry residents! We’re looking for more District Dog submissions! Drop the information on your pup here.
As you all may know, when we aren’t in DC, we are hosting one of our Lowcountry events such as Coffee or Cocktails With Your Congresswoman. To stay in the loop on when we hold our events, stay subscribed to our newsletter and follow our Eventbrite page!
We are always here to assist you with any issues or concerns. Please feel free to reach out to us.
It is an honor to serve each and every one of you.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
