Congressman Kim enjoyed celebrating Juneteenth and Pride Month in New Jersey this past weekend, before heading to Washington. He was glad to be able to welcome local students to the Capitol this week in between votes and a lengthy markup of the National Defense Authorization Act! Congressman Kim Hosts Service Academy Info Day Last Saturday, Congressman Kim hosted a Service Academy Information Day in Hightstown. He delivered some welcome remarks and talked to the inquiring students about honorable service. The Congressman was pleased to be able to meet students in-person, as he was only able to attend virtually in years prior. | Helping Hungry Families in Trenton Congressman Kim joined one of Lawrenceville Gurdwara’s food distribution sites in Trenton last weekend. Every third Saturday of the month, the Gurdwara hosts a Neighborhood Langar (free food distribution), which services people in Hamilton and Trenton. This month’s Langar was organized and run by youth community members. Their Neighborhood Langars help so many out in the community and it was great to learn more about their work! | Commemorating Pride Month Over the weekend in Princeton, Congressman Kim joined the Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice to celebrate empowerment, expression, love, and the right to be who you are! This week and during Pride Month, the Congressman was proud to co-sponsor the Equality Act, a long-overdue protection for LGBTQ+ Americans against discrimination. Congressman Kim Attends Change of Command Ceremony at JBMDL On Tuesday, Congressman Kim was honored to attend the Change of Command Ceremony and help recognize a group of honorable local servicemembers for their service and leadership at the base. Celebrating Our Local Congressional Award Winners Congressman Kim was honored to welcome three outstanding young people from New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District to the Capitol and congratulate them on being Congressional Award Gold Medalists. This prestigious award requires students to complete over 400 hours of community service, 200 hours for a personal development activity of their choice, 200 hours for a physical fitness activity of their choice, and complete a 5-day, 4-night expedition or exploration of at least 2 years. | Welcoming NJ-03’s Congressional Art Competition Winner to Washington Congressman Kim met with Congressional Art Competition Winner, Aiden Wan, to recognize his incredible artwork and accomplishment. Aiden’s artwork got to see his art hanging on the walls of the Capitol, where it will stay for the next year. Congratulations again, Aiden! | Congressman Kim Reintroduces Bipartisan Dental Care for Our Troops Act As Ranking Member of the Military Personnel Subcommittee, Congressman Kim is committed to delivering for EVERYONE serving in uniform. This week, he reintroduced his bipartisan Dental Care for Our Troops Act to help our nation uphold its promise to our servicemembers. Congressman Kim Votes to Advance Bipartisan National Defense Authorization Act, Remains Focused on Supporting Servicemembers and Their Families, Securing Jobs in New Jersey, Bolstering U.S. Strength and Competitiveness Early Thursday morning, Congressman Kim helped advance an NDAA that will deliver troops a deserved pay raise, invest in child care facilities, and provide much-needed dental coverage for Guard and Reserve servicemembers through his Dental Care for our Troops Act. He is honored to represent and continue working to support the brave Guard, Reserve, and Active Duty Servicemembers living and working at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. Congressman Kim Encourages Young AANHPI Leaders to Stay Engaged This Thursday, the Congressman was honored to speak to dozens of students and interns at an event hosted by Asian and Pacific Islander American Vote (APIAVote) event. Using his personal background and experience in Congress, he spoke to the group about how valuable their voice, their right to be represented in government, and encouraged them to stay engaged to build a better future. | Congressman Kim Emphasizes U.S. Diplomacy and Engagement Over the last week, Congressman Kim sat down to discuss Secretary Blinken’s travel to Beijing and the importance of engagement with partners, but also with our competitors to avoid crises, promote diplomacy and democracy, and overcome global challenges.
