TAMMY BALDWIN FOR SENATE

Folks — One year ago tomorrow, I sent the message copied below after the right-wing Supreme Court majority overturned Roe v. Wade. Here’s what has happened since:

  • Wisconsin turned back the clock and sent reproductive rights back to 1849
  • Republican-controlled state legislatures passed draconian abortion bans
  • Right-wing officials have even gone after doctors who provide reproductive health services and threatened access to abortion medication

But here’s what else has happened: Voters across the nation overwhelmingly turned out and spoke out for safe, legal abortion access. We kept Mitch McConnell from taking back the Senate and advancing a national abortion ban. And my Democratic colleagues and I reintroduced legislation in the Senate to restore abortion access nationwide and protect it at the federal level.

One year later, one thing remains clear — this fight is not over. Abortion access is on the ballot once again in 2024, and it will take all of us to defend it and fight back against the GOP’s continued attacks on women’s health care.

So, will you help me continue making progress to protect abortion access and defend the Senate from anti-choice Republicans with a donation today?

Subject: I’m not giving up

I have some difficult news to share with you today, folks: The Supreme Court just officially overturned Roe v. Wade, wiping out 50 years of legal precedent and taking away the nationwide protection of the right to choose.

I’m fuming right now, and I’m sure you are too.

Republicans have been planning for this moment ever since the Supreme Court handed down its decision in Roe almost five decades ago — from passing abortion-ban laws in state legislatures across the nation to ramming right-wing justices onto the bench to do their bidding.

And as we process the Court’s decision today — a decision that will put millions of lives in grave danger — Republicans are celebrating. Now, they’re looking toward reclaiming the Senate majority, and if they do, Mitch McConnell has made it clear that a national abortion ban is on the table.

I’m angry and disappointed — not only with Republicans who have been fighting for this outcome for decades but on behalf of the millions of women whose rights have been taken from them. But folks, I’m not giving up. Abortion access is a fundamental right, and I’ll never stop fighting to protect it.

Right now, I’m focused on protecting and expanding our Senate majority, because one thing’s for sure: we cannot afford to let McConnell continue to roll back our fundamental rights with the gavel in hand. But it’s going to take a lot of work (and resources) to protect and expand our majority this November, so I’m asking:

Will you pitch in $10 right now to support our work to protect and expand our Senate majority this November? Every dollar makes a difference when our fundamental rights are on the line.

This fight isn’t over yet, and I want you to know that I’m not giving up on our work to protect reproductive rights and freedoms.

Recently, I joined my Senate colleagues in asking President Biden to issue an executive order to expand access to safe legal abortions — including increasing access to essential medication and providing resources such as travel vouchers and childcare services for people crossing state lines to access abortion care. And I’ll continue fighting my heart out to ensure women everywhere can get the health care they need.

Thanks for taking the time to read this message and support our fight, if you can. I’ll be in touch with more updates soon.

Onward.
