DELIVERING CROP INSURANCE PROTECTIONS FOR OUR NEW, BEGINNING, AND VETERAN PRODUCERS In my conversations with Iowa farmers and producers on my Feenstra Agriculture Tour and my discussions with my 60-member Agriculture Advisory Board, I have repeatedly heard that a robust crop insurance program is the top priority for our agriculture community in this year’s Farm Bill. These same producers are extremely concerned – as am I – that our young farmers face major hurdles to succeed in today’s bleak economy. Serving as Iowa’s voice on the House Agriculture Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee, I am proud to introduce my Crop Insurance for Future Farmers Act that extends vital crop and livestock insurance protections to new, beginning, and veteran farmers to lower their insurance payments for their first ten years in business. Randy Feenstra (R-Iowa) as generational turnover looms in the agriculture industry. This is the latest in a series of discriminatory taxes against U.S. businesses. Read more about my work on this issue in my op-ed for Bloomberg Tax below. REPEALING PRESIDENT BIDEN'S MORTGAGE FEE HIKE ON IOWA FAMILIES Iowa taxpayers who have strong credit scores should not be punished for their financial responsibility. However, that is exactly what President Biden is doing with his wealth redistribution plan for home mortgages. In our Commitment to America, House Republicans promised that we would protect our families from burdensome government overreach and the Biden Administration’s tax-and-spend agenda. I am proud to uphold that commitment by passing the Middle Class Borrower Protection Act, which will defend responsible Iowa taxpayers from President Biden’s mortgage fee hike as our families struggle from the effects of inflation spurred by wasteful government spending. Biden's 'socialist' mortgage plan reversed by GOP bill The House of Representatives passed a bill on Friday reversing President Biden's controversial mortgage plan. We also talked about legislation that I am working on to address the lack of cold chain storage in our supply chains. HOMEGROWN AMERICAN ETHANOL PROMOTES ECONOMIC AND ENERGY SECURITY American fuel retailers, corn growers, ethanol producers, and our families face unnecessary uncertainty year after year awaiting the EPA’s arbitrary, last-minute waivers to allow for the summertime sale of E-15 at gas stations nationwide. This unpredictability raises gas prices for American families, prevents fuel retailers from consistently marketing low-cost, low-carbon E-15, and threatens the livelihoods of corn growers and ethanol producers, not only in Iowa but across the Midwest. As is the case with many challenges facing our nation, it is incumbent upon Congress to end this waiver confusion and finally make E-15 available at the gas pump 365 days a year — permanently. This permanency would grant our families, businesses, and consumers more choices at the pump. Fortunately, we have the exact policies in our legislative pipeline to achieve this goal and support homegrown American ethanol production.
