Thanks to the efforts of President Biden and Congressional Democrats, we were able to stop McCarthy and his MAGA Republicans from cutting Social Security during the debt ceiling negotiations.

Now that they’re done holding the economy hostage (for the moment), McCarthy just announced that he still plans to focus more resources on stripping down the Social Security and Medicare benefits you earned—the two programs all working Americans pay into their entire adult lives and deserve to be able to count upon later in life.

With so many seniors struggling to make ends meet, especially women and people of color, Democrats are fighting to protect these critical Social Security and Medicare benefits.

But Republicans are not going to let up, and, because they hold a majority in the House for now, it sets the stage for a showdown. We need to make it clear that Democrats will continue to stand up for Social Security and protect it from these cruel attempts by the GOP to damage it.
