A dangerous bill just passed the State House, crossing over to the State Senate and it must be stopped!
HB4474 passed the House with 45 Democrat Sponsors and an alarming 173 Yea votes, 59 Nays and 50 “excused”. This bill is now referred to the Senate Committee on Civil Rights, Judiciary, and Public Safety.
Together we can force this bill to die in committee!
HB4474 will make it a FELONY in Michigan to make speech that is perceived by the recipient as having caused "severe mental anguish" and perceived by the recipient as being motivated by hatred for one's race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or other protected classes.
House Bill 4474 will enable extremists to weaponize the criminal justice system to put those who question their ideology behind bars and devastate their lives.
This unconstitutional bill bypasses the legal requirement to prove intent in a crime to any recipient perceiving an offense, thereby punishing free speech when someone’s feelings are hurt, with extreme bias.
This is a move by the Left to silent parents who are fighting for parental rights, fighting to protect children from chemical castration and mutilation, and fight to prevent obscene comprehensive sex education and indoctrination in public schools. It is a move to set dangerous legal precedence across the country.
