It's been a year since Roe v. Wade was overturned by the conservative majority on the Supreme Court through the Dobbs v. Jackson decision on June 24, 2022. Dobbs moved our country back by 50 years, stripping abortion access away from millions of young women who now have fewer rights than their mothers and grandmothers.
Since then, we've seen in Texas and other states and across the country enact extreme abortion bans, and there is an effort going on today to enact a nationwide federal abortion ban, even in cases of rape and incest.
I remain absolutely committed to fighting to ensure every woman has the right to make decisions over her own body and will continue to push for equitable access to these critical healthcare services. I'm proud to tell you that I'm an original cosponsor of the Women's Health Protection Act of 2023 which protects and codifies abortion services.
