School boards are under attack from far-right extremists across the United States.
In my own Pennsylvania town, right-wing candidates tried to take over our local school board as part of a $500,000 statewide effort funded by a venture capitalist. It’s happening everywhere:

Together, we must fight back. We are launching a new SAVE OUR SCHOOL BOARDS campaign to support over 200 progressive school board candidates across the country with campaign resources and training to help them win.
We’ve helped hundreds of local candidates in recent years -- including school board wins like Missy Zombor in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Katrina Doughty in Multnomah County, Oregon. Now, we are going deeper with a dedicated school board program.
(If you are a teacher or parent who has felt the impact of book banning or a right-wing school board firsthand, please take our survey here.)
The far-right sees school board races as a way to make gains with suburban voters and take back swing districts by driving hysteria around "Critical Race Theory" and other issues. It is part of their war on democracy -- banning books and writing things like the civil rights movement and Trump's insurrection out of history.
We anticipate our program will cost $450,000. Our resources will guide first-time school board candidates through gathering petition signatures, creating a campaign plan, budgeting, and building a grassroots army.
Candidates we help will have the opportunity to meet with expert coaches and get trained on talking to the media. We’ll even be able to buy data and other resources at scale that most individual candidates could never afford. To do this, we need your support today.
Karl Frisch, who sits today on a Virginia school board that used to be entirely Republican, says: "When running for office, I attended a PCCC candidate training...The Progressive Change Campaign Committee knows electing progressives on the local level is critically important -- especially to the school board where decisions impacting families are made every day. I have been honored to have their support in my campaigns to make sure every student has access to great schools with amazing teachers."
Thanks for being a bold progressive.

We're also working to endorse and support 800 progressive candidates this cycle. It's is a huge effort.
