Calling All Heroes! The NVFS Back2School Drive is Back
It’s no secret that money is tight for many families right now. This makes school supplies a luxury for a family struggling to pay their bills. Your help with the Back2School drive will ensure every child will have a backpack full of new school supplies, giving them the confidence they need to begin the school year right, while easing the financial burden for their families.
Check out these three ways you can contribute so all children can follow their dreams:
1. Donate today! Your Donation, preferably before August 7, will have the biggest impact.
2. Sponsor the Back2School drive to help level the playing field for all children in our community.
3. Contribute school supplies from our official list and drop them off Wednesday, 7/26 from 9am-1pm or Thursday 7/27 from 1pm-6pm at our Back2School HQ in Fairfax. Check our website in mid-July for the address announcement.
If you are with a corporate or civic group and would like to organize a drive, please contact [email protected].
YOUR support of the Back2School drive will make a tangible impact on a child’s success - both in the classroom and beyond.

NVFS Community In Reach Event a Success!
NVFS’ Community In Reach team in partnership with nonprofits, Loudoun County Government, Banneker Elementary School and the faith community recently hosted a Job Search and Resource Fair in the St. Louis Village community in Middleburg. In addition to providing opportunities to meet one-on-one with NVFS career counselors, more than 1,200 pounds of food was given to community residents. In addition, residents had access to health screenings and many other community resources to promote health, well being, child care assistance and employment.
Thank you to all our partners and participants who made this event a success!

Volunteer Spotlight: Deloitte Impact Day
Thank you to Deloitte for volunteering with NVFS during Deloitte Impact Day, the company's annual worldwide volunteer day to help the communities they are located in, an excellent example of corporate social responsibility. Deloitte has been partnering with NVFS on this day since at least 2010.
This year the Deloitte team helped a variety of NVFS programs. One group built and installed new shelving at the NVFS Hunger Resource Center. Another group of volunteers assembled three types of STEM education kits as part of a partnership with the Children’s Science Center to help educate and inspire the kids in NVFS’ programs. Lastly, volunteers reorganized the layout and storage area at the NVFS Clock Tower Thrift Store, helping the team use the space more effectively.
A big thank you to Deloitte volunteers for supporting children and families in Northern Virginia and for making an #ImpactThatMatters.
If your company would like to make a positive impact in the Northern Virginia community email [email protected] so we can tailor a partnership that will make a difference.
