Friend,

Tomorrow, exactly one year will have passed since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and stripped millions of American women of the right to make their own healthcare decisions.

The ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization was an attack on freedom of choice in this country. It was an unprecedented elimination of a previously guaranteed constitutional right. The decision eroded public trust in the Supreme Court to historic lows -- roughly one-quarter of the American public say they have confidence in our nation’s highest court.

Today, the extreme-right is taking advantage of this ruling to restrict abortion rights in numerous states. In fact, people began flocking to Illinois – including IL-17 – for reproductive care after it was outlawed in several surrounding states following the Dobbs ruling.

Our work to restore reproductive rights in this country is underway. I'm under no illusion that our fight to restore reproductive rights will be easy, but it's one I'll never give up on. We need to codify Roe v. Wade, and until then, we need to block any and all attempts at a national abortion ban.

Defending this swing district is critical to retake the House majority and push back against the right-wing assault on a woman’s right to choose. Will you chip in $3 or more to our re-election campaign today?

I appreciate your continued support, team. Let’s keep IL-17 blue and protect freedom of choice.
