Hi John,
We’re stepping up in the fight against tailpipe pollution! Right now we have an opportunity to fight for stronger emission standards for every vehicle on our roads.
And we’re already seeing results! In just two months, more than 9,200 EDF Action supporters submitted public comments to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) fighting for fewer climate emissions and cleaner air for everyone. But we can’t stop there. The EPA has proposed a new rule to stop the spread of lethal particulate matter, smog forming emissions and climate pollution from passenger cars and trucks— which is why we’re asking for your help again.
To protect our air and climate we need cleaner roadways. That starts by tackling tailpipe pollution in all forms. Help the EPA set stronger emissions standards for passenger vehicles by submitting a public comment on their Light Duty Vehicle proposal today! [link removed]
The transportation sector is the nation’s largest source of climate pollution, responsible for more than 1.7 billion tons of climate pollution every year – almost a third of U.S. emissions. And passenger cars and trucks are a large part of the problem. In fact, these vehicles are responsible for 57% of the transportation sector’s total climate emissions!
That’s why we’re so excited for EPA’s latest proposal. If approved, the EPA’s new multi-pollutant emission standards for passenger cars and trucks, along with medium-duty vehicles, would help ensure that at least two-thirds of all new passenger vehicles are zero-emission by 2032. This would help the U.S. tackle several forms of air and climate pollution including CO2, lethal particulate matter and smog-forming NOx emissions.
But to ensure that the rule is as strong as it can be we need your help! Submit a public comment urging the EPA to take the next step. [link removed]
With your help we can make sure that this rule combats climate change by setting strong protective emissions standards for our cars, vans and SUVs.
Thank you for taking action,
Wes Rogerson
