2. CELEBRATE: Tomorrow, June 24th, is the one-year anniversary of Roe v. Wade being overruled!

June 24th represents the one year anniversary of the repeal of Roe v. Wade. As Fox News reports <[link removed]>, "Conservatives have been celebrating since the Dobbs decision overturned Roe and the subsequent aftershocks protecting life across the country, and pro-life leaders are gearing up for the one-year anniversary of their movement’s big win."

In contrast, as Carolina Journal <[link removed]> reports, "Planned Parenthood is asking a federal judge to issue an order blocking much of North Carolina’s new abortion law from taking effect. The abortion provider filed paperwork Wednesday seeking a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction from U.S. District Judge Catherine Eagles. Without court action, major sections of the law will take effect July 1."

In response, per the Associated Press <[link removed]>, "North Carolina Republican legislators rolled out on Thursday adjustments to the state’s new abortion restrictions <[link removed]> that are set to take effect in days."

Carolina Journal <[link removed]> also notes that "North Carolina’s top legislative leaders want to defend the state’s new abortion law against [the] federal lawsuit. They seek to intervene in the case as the suit heads to a hearing next week in Greensboro."

3.  MY FOX 8: North Carolina bill banning transgender athletes in girls’, women’s sports heads to governor’s desk

"A bill to prohibit transgender athletes from competing in girls’ and women’s sports received concurrence from the North Carolina House on Thursday morning and was sent to Gov. Roy Cooper for his signature. The vote was 63-42 — with Rep. Mike Wray (D-Halifax) again siding with Republicans — to agree with the Senate’s changes to the 'Fairness in Women’s Sports Act,' HB 574. The Senate had scrapped its passed bill in favor of adding slight amendments to the House’s version of what were mirrored bills in early April. SB 631 was transformed into something related that bans medical treatment for transgender minors."

4. CAROLINA JOURNAL: Senate weighs bill to prohibit puberty blocking drugs for minors

"On Wednesday, the Senate Health Care Committee passed House Bill 808 (H.B. 808), which would prohibit medical professionals from performing surgical gender transition procedures, giving puberty-blocking drugs, or giving cross-sex hormones to minors." "Prisha Mosley, a 25 year old who underwent surgical operations to transition from female to male as a teenager, spoke about the detrimental effects of treatment to her body. Mosley de-transitioned, but said she still has permanent damage, including being unlikely to conceive a child and a lower voice, in addition to other serious issues, all of which resulted from the “gender affirming” drugs and surgeries she received while she was a minor."

5. CAROLINA JOURNAL: Parents Bill of Rights clears NC House committee

"After lying dormant for over four months, a Parents Bill of Rights is once again on the move in the North Carolina General Assembly. On Wednesday, the House Education Committee passed Senate Bill 49 after a brief debate. Supporters say the measure is needed to protect children and ensure that parents have knowledge about what their kids are being taught in public schools."

S49 creates transparency regarding school curriculum, gives parents rights to object to curriculum, gives parents rights to the medical records of their children, and prohibits teaching gender ideology in K-4th grade. It now heads to the House Rules Committee.

Weekly Prayer: NC Officials

LORD, you also have instructed us to pray for our governing officials, and we come to you in the spirit of this petition. We pray for our state government and its executive, legislative, and judicial servants. May they indeed be servants unto the people, and govern in a manner that protects liberty and virtue. In the same spirit, we pray for public servants across our local governments. May they all heed your mandate in Romans 13:4 to be in positions of authority as "God's servant" and for the "good" of the public. They govern in what we confess are difficult times. May they plead with you to give them wisdom, and may your grace to govern wisely be poured out on them.

Protect us from the oppression and loss of freedoms that other countries have experienced, and help us to value and preserve freedom, which we know comes only from You.

"I have indeed seen the oppression of my people in Egypt.  I have heard their groaning and have come down to set them free." Acts 7:34

Amen
