LANGUAGE ACCESS PROGRAM

Major changes coming for two contracts

DES?s Language Access Program is sharing guidance on the potential gap of services for spoken-language interpreters. For clarification, the contracts referenced below are undergoing significant changes.

* *Contract 02819 [ [link removed] ] *will "not be amended" to include the in-person interpreting (IPI) modality.
* *Contract 03514 [ [link removed] ]?*is expiring June 30. The following categories have been split into either new or pending contracts:

Category 1 (court-certified interpreters) will be replaced with 17622 [ [link removed] ].*

Category 2 (non-collective bargaining agreement work) will be replaced with 18222 [ [link removed] ].*

Category 3 (collective bargaining agreement work) was replaced with 06821 [ [link removed] ].

*** For contracts that have yet to be awarded, users may exercise one of the two following options during the gap period:

* Direct buy: DES does not foresee the gap period to exceed the direct-buy limits. For information on direct-buy policy, agencies should work with their internal procurement departments on policies and procedures.
* Bulk orders: Place bulk orders with contractors prior to expiration based on your agency?s historical data about need for interpreters. (Exercise your right to cancel appointments if needed within the cancelation terms. Review the cancelation terms in the contract before obligating your agency to a bulk order.)

Due to ongoing changes in the procurement process, DES can?t provide a specific date when the new contracts will be awarded. For progress updates, DES recommends regularly reviewing the Planned Procurement [ [link removed] ] page and the individual contract pages.
