Voting items at the meeting will include:

*Resolution to Adopt a “General-Support” Endorsement for Ry Armstrong for Seattle City Council District 3 has been withdrawn by the authors

This Friday, June 23, 6pm

Volunteer Park Amphitheater

In a furious assault on bodily autonomy, 2023 has seen the Right introduce over 500 anti-trans bills in legislatures across the country, with overturning Roe vs Wade last year leading the offensive.  It’s clear this bigotry will only intensify as the Presidential election season kicks off with a crowded field of Republican candidates and the war between Trump and DeSantis encouraging ever more anti-LGTBQ rhetoric.

Meanwhile, polls show the majority of working people - 67%! - think Trans people should be protected from discrimination in employment, housing, services, etc.  Unfortunately we can’t rely on the Democratic Party to mount a defense of Trans rights, the only way we can ultimately defend and advance Trans rights and bodily autonomy is through a mass movement of everyday working people with escalatory tactics.  Socialist and Left wing elected officials, Bernie Sanders, unions, and others should use their enormous reach and authority to call for a National Day of Action to kick off organized mass struggle to stop the brutal attacks on Trans people.

Started in 2013, Trans Pride Seattle is an annual event organized by Gender Justice League in collaboration with hundreds of local organizers, volunteers, and groups who support local the Seattle-area trans & gender diverse community.

🌹 Hey friends!
Time for your Raise the Wage Renton Update 🌹

🎉✍️Right now, working class folks in Renton have to work 72 hours a week to afford an average 1 bedroom apartment! Working people need a raise and they need to see socialists earning it for them together! Help us qualify our minimum wage initiative for the ballot in Renton so we can transfer an estimated $45 MILLION DOLLARS EVERY YEAR to the lowest paid workers who are disproportionately people of color, women, and LGBTQIA+!

We’re turning in our FIRST batch of signatures very soon, in only 8 days, by the END OF JUNE. Sign up for tabling or canvassing this weekend so we can turn in as many signatures as possible before the end of the month!🎉✍️

🥇 How can I help? 🥇

Working to create socialism is sometimes … well, a lot of work! If it’s all rallies and meetings and spreadsheets, it can turn into a drag real quick. We think it’s important to have some time to just simply get to know each other, connect over food and drinks, and have fun together — that’s what this social is for! No big speeches, no business, just time to connect with other leftists.

What to expect:

  • There will be folks to greet you when you arrive and all the DSA tables will be clearly marked.
  • We will set aside a few tables for designated activities (board games / political discussion / etc.) *
  • Not a member? Not a problem! We’ll have several folks on hand who love talking to new folks! Whether you are a long-time member or just curious about Seattle DSA, this event is for you!
  • It’s fine to arrive late — we’ll be around till at least 7.

Also, feel free to bring a friend. See you there!
