Dear Reader,

Many people are skeptical about the integrity and ethics of news outlets like us, and we don’t blame them. Historically, journalists haven’t always done the best job of being transparent about their own work — and that’s why we’re so committed to doing things differently at PublicSource.

Our work is based on a foundation of ethical principles and values that drive our day-to-day decisions. Here are a few of our commitments:
* Accuracy: Every piece of journalism we publish is fact-checked. That means that someone besides the reporter or editor goes through a story, word by word and sentence by sentence and confirms details using legal documents, recordings, human sources and more.
* Independence from political, financial and personal interests: Our newsroom staff chooses what to cover and how to cover it, based on our own judgment and driven by our public-service mission — not to please any outside entities.
* Transparency: All donations over $1,000 in the past year are listed on our website, which exceeds the Institute for Nonprofit News’ recommended policy for donor disclosures.

Just as we hold others to account in our reporting, we invite you to hold us accountable for staying true to these commitments — and, if you value journalism that is truly transparent and answers to you, we have a favor to ask.

Our work can’t exist without audience contributions. The more people like you support us with your dollars, the less we need to rely on other forms of revenue like advertising and the more journalism we’re able to produce. It’s a win-win. So if you’re financially able, even a few dollars can go a long way. Will you support us now?

Yes, I support independent, ethical journalism! ([link removed])
Sincerely,
Halle Stockton
