Good News Friday! Report on the Poll Observer Bill!

County Coordinators & Liaison Meetings. Sunday, June 25th @7PM Our Wednesday, June 21st call was well received. Those of you who could not make that call, hope to see you this Sunday. The Agenda for These Two Meetings 1) Eagle AI is coming in the next few weeks and will be ready by July 4th. You need to have your counties prepared with a plan and a data team. We will review the steps and give you an update. Who's up first and what to expect. Jim Womack will walk us through what each county needs to have in place. 2) Priority Legislation: Action Alerts to forward and call your county folks. Who's helping us and who's not. (Media attacks mean we're on target!) 3) Post Office updates. Same bad actors in BOE are running the PO. 4) Vulnerable Voters Task Forces Forming. Resources/Still need a state leader. Longleaf Politics: June 19, 2023 Power grab or good government? [link removed] This week, we dive deep into the new proposal to change the State Board of Elections. Ever since Gov. Roy Cooper took office, the General Assembly has been whittling away at his power. It’s a time-honored tradition in North Carolina politics, though an exhausting one. This battle is back in a big way. Once again, the legislature is attempting to change the composition of the State Board of Elections — making the board evenly split between Republicans and Democrats and removing the governor’s office from the equation altogether. There’s a strong argument to be made that this isn’t just a power grab, it’s actually good government. The bill is also well in line with how other states administer their elections. Read more here.
