NCUA seeks feedback on raising operating fee exemption threshold

The NCUA Board Thursday issued a notice and request for comment (RFC) on adjustments to its operating fees methodology as it considers raising the exemption threshold for federal credit unions (FCUs) that pay operating fees from $1 million to $2 million.

House set to vote on bill to cancel GSEs’ single-family pricing framework

The House is set to vote today on the Middle Class Borrower Protection Act of 2023 (H.R. 3564), which would cancel the Federal Housing Finance Agency’s (FHFA) recent changes to the GSEs’ single-family pricing framework.

NAFCU, trades offer recommendations for GSEs’ credit score plan

NAFCU joined with several other housing finance stakeholders to share feedback on the Federal Housing Finance Agency’s (FHFA) new credit score requirements for the government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs). NAFCU has supported the use of alternative credit scoring models that more accurately capture creditworthy borrowers and offer them access to affordable credit.

CFPB offering webcast on small biz lending rule

The CFPB is offering a webcast on its small business lending data collection rule Wednesday. Staff from the bureau’s Office of Regulations will review information to help financial institutions determine whether they are covered financial institutions, whether transactions are covered credit transactions, and which businesses are small businesses under the rule.

CDFI Fund subcommittee to hold public meeting July 7

The Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) Fund’s recently established CDFI Certification Subcommittee is set to hold a virtual public meeting July 7 to present recommendations on the process to revise the CDFI Certification Application.

Existing home sales remain steady in May

Existing home sales rose 0.2 percent in May to a seasonally-adjusted annual rate of 4.3 million units. This represents a 20.4 percent decrease in sales versus a year ago. NAFCU Chief Economist and Vice President of Research Curt Long breaks down the report in a new NAFCU Macro Data Flash report.
