John --
Quick question: Have you noticed National Party ads popping up on your social media? How about on billboards in your city centre?
There’s a cap on how much political parties can spend on advertising during an election campaign in New Zealand - it’s there to ensure that we have a somewhat level playing field. To stop the interests of ordinary people being drowned out by the undue influence of wealthy donors.
But it looks like the opposition is spending big on billboards and online ads before the campaign expenditure cap kicks in on July 14th.
John, can you chip in today to help level the playing field? <[link removed]>Every single donation, whether it's $10 or $100 will help us to counter these ads.
YES, I'LL CHIP IN <[link removed]>Frankly, this is what I was afraid of. The opposition are using their millions to bombard Kiwis with ads and their 'war chest' is in no danger of drying up. With National declaring $300,000 from wealthy donors in the last few days alone, we need to take action now or we're in danger of being drowned out.
If you can, please consider chipping in to our campaign fund <[link removed]>so that we can get to work countering these ads.
