Team, we have big updates in the fight for voting rights.
First, the good news:
“Supreme Court Protects Voting Rights In Racial Gerrymandering Case” – Huffington Post
Thanks in part to the advocacy of our affiliate, the Supreme Court voted to uphold Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, which protects communities of color from efforts to dilute their voting power through map manipulation. This was a huge victory for our democracy!

But here’s the bad news, team: Republicans aren’t giving up on their attacks on voting rights. Instead, they’re doubling down.
Across the country, Republicans are working to:
❌ Implement new restrictions that make it harder to cast a ballot.
❌ Change the rules to make it more difficult to protect reproductive freedom through citizen-led ballot initiatives.
❌ Suppress young voters by closing polling places on college campuses and implementing new identification requirements. One GOP presidential candidate even suggested raising the voting age to 25!
The GOP will do whatever it takes to secure unearned power – that’s why A.G. Holder has said, “We’re going to have to go state by state to protect voting rights.”
That’s exactly what the NDRC has been doing, and what we’ll continue doing with your help, team. The end-of-quarter deadline is just a few days away, so will you pitch in now to support our work?
