Happy World Rainforest Day, John! We’re celebrating one of the world’s most biodiverse and ecologically important places in the world with a special flash match offer.

Donate by midnight tonight, and you’ll unlock a World Rainforest Day flash match, quadrupling your impact with $3 in matching funds for every $1 you donate.

From 2002 to 2021, more than 169 million acres of global tropical forest have been destroyed — an area around the size of Texas. This destruction of tropical forests, and the plants and animals in them, is a profound loss for the Indigenous Peoples who call the rainforest home.

Your World Rainforest Day gift can make FOUR TIMES the difference for tropical forests, the people and wildlife who depend on them AND all our work protecting the climate.

Did you know protecting and restoring tropical forests could reduce global carbon pollution by a whopping 25%? To reduce climate pollution and prevent global warming from reaching catastrophic levels, we must protect and restore tropical forests.

One way EDF is helping save large-scale tropical forests is through our support for LEAF (Lowering Emissions and Accelerating Forest finance). LEAF represents the largest private sector commitment to protect healthy tropical forests and deliver significant economic benefits to Indigenous Peoples and forest communities.

LEAF has secured $1.5 billion in funding commitments from countries and companies to buy high quality carbon credits, with much more to come. This progress gives us hope that we can move the needle to reverse deforestation.

Take advantage of the World Rainforest Day flash match by midnight tonight, and you’ll unlock $3 with every $1 you give to quadruple your power to secure vital rainforests — and a vital Earth, for everyone.

Wishing you a day as vibrant and full of life as the rainforests we fight for,

Emily Stevenson
